Cruiser's Dictionary (Free)
Jeanne Pockel and her husband Peter have been cruising for 17 + years. She has compiled a collection of hints and tips in a "Dictionary" format that every cruiser (and boat owner) should have on board. Jeanne graciously offers this publication through Cruising Connections at no charge to assist all those sailors "out there" as well as those still searching for useful information. |
Blinkweb is a great on-line webpage/blog/whatever place to create a website
without any cost to you. They supply the web page templates and will
host your site on the blinkweb domain for free. If you want them to host your
domain there is a small charge. I created CruisersLife using their
templates and webpage until I was satisfied with the results and then I
used blinkweb's service to get my own domain and converted my blinkweb website to my new domain (www.cruiserslife.com). Try it. It's
easy!

An Embarrassment of Mangoes by Ann Vanderhoff
This is a "must give" book for guys who want their non-sailor first mates to at least THINK about doing some cruising. It's an extremely well written and amusing story of a Caribbean adventure as seen through the eyes of the first mate who was, in the beginning, a very unwilling participant in his five year plan. Gentlemen, just get the book and give it to her. You won't be disappointed! |

Adrift by Steven Callahan
This is the amazing story of the survival of a young man lost at sea for 76 days. He drifted almost 1,800 miles before being found. Bill just finished the book and said it's fantastic. It's well written and provides an enormous amount of information for all sailors... just in case. We've put a book review on our site, so be sure to visit our Book Reviews Page for more information. Bill paid $14 for it at a bookstore, but it can be purchased at Amazon.com for less. |

Ocean Passages for the World
This is an excellent book produced by the British Navy. Don't think it's in print anymore, but you can get copies through Amazon.com. Even if you don't have any plans to cruise the world, it's a fascinating book. Book prices range from $40 to over $400 US. Amazon seems to have the best prices, once again. No need to get the most expensive version unless you're a collector. So long as the maps are included with the book, it's okay. Click on the link to the right for more information. |

Cruising Woman's Advisor by Diana Jessie
Was first published in 2007 and has been touted as a must read for new sailors of the female variety. Although I haven't personally read it yet, it is on my list. I'm told that it is an excellent book because it answers questions that most newcomers don't even know to ask. It goes for $18.95 US new and used copies can be purchased for as little as $6.95 US on Amazon.com. Just click on the link to the right to get to Amazon. |

Cruising Catamaran Communique
We've known the author, Chuck Kanter, for many years. His research is excellent and he's certainly outdone himself with Cruising Catamaran Communique. Bill marvels at the amount of information and the easy to understand presentation. If you're interested in catamarans, this book is a must read. Book prices are pretty stable at just under $30.00 and can be purchased at amazon.com. Just click on the link to the right and you'll be brought right to CCC on Amazon.com. |
