Welcome to our Book Reviews...
We've always found that the short blurbs you find on jacket covers and from advertising, just didn't give us enough information on a book's content. We'd like to correct that problem. If anyone would like to submit a review on a book you particularly like, please email it to us at Loree@SeaWolfCat.com.

I once heard a definition of
reading that said "reading is thinking with someone else's mind." This is the
thought that came to mind while reading ADRIFT.
Steven Callahan, the author, is a Naval Architect. The fact that you know at the start that Mr. Callahan survived his 76 day ordeal
allows you to read about to his tale with an analytical observation that would
not otherwise be possible. If there was
a University for Cruising Studies, this would most certainly be required
reading.
Callahan's narrative style allows you to be the fly on the wall, to actually be there in the raft with him. It's almost like he is talking directly to you. If intelligence is defined as one's ability to adapt to one's environment, Mr. Callahan is brilliant. His creativity and will power to stay alive is inspiring. There is much to be learned form Mr. Callahan.
I've come away from the experience with a new and different perspective on everyday life. Taking a hot shower or just brushing one's teeth takes on a new appreciation, not thought of before. I sincerely hope that the survival techniques that have been learned here are never put to the test but I, most assuredly, am better prepared for life afloat than before. As with all books of this caliber, his story now opens up all sorts of avenues to research.
SOLAR STILL- I am going to build a solar still. Do I need one? I hope not, but if ever I need one, I want to know how to build it.
DROGUE- Do I need one? Yes. Now I know it's importance.
He also gives reference to other books that I want to read. They are listed below and will be reviewed here soon.
Reference books:
1- Survivor by Michael Greenwald - Callahan calls it "The Bible" of sea stories
2- Desperate Voyage by John Caldwell
3- Survivor by Michael Greenwald
